Dubbing

I become involved in dubbing in 2015 as an actor. I realized that my background in music and languages helped me match the rhythms and subtext of the original actor’s performances. Once I gained a deep understanding of the work, I began directing and adapting as well. As streaming companies have expanded their foreign content, the dubbing industry has grown and I have become fascianted by the technicalities and art of creating performances that enhance the viewers’ experience in English. Now I work for dubbing companies such as Voice & Script International, Poste Haste, and Keywords Studios that dub content from Netflix, HBOmax, Amazon, and other companies from around the world.

DIRECTING

THE HEAD OF JOAQUIN MURRIETA - AMAZON

I got to work with multiple original cast members who dubbed themselves for the characters of Murrieta, Kelly, and Harry Love. I’ve been obsessed with the history of California right after the Mexican-American War for a long time so it was really exciting to get to work on a show set during this period. This show was in the top five internationally for weeks on Amazon and the dub was viewed more often than the original language.

SAM:A SAXON - HULU

Sam: A Saxon was based on the real-life story of Sam Meffire who was the first black police officer in East Germany just before and after the fall of the Berlin Wall. Malik Bauer who plays Sam came over from Germany to dub himself and it was a wonderful experience being able to preserve his performance.

ELITE - SEASON 5 - NETFLIX

After the legendary John DeMitta directed the dub for the first 4 seasons I got to step in to direct the 5th season which reached the Top 5 on Netflix.

EL PRESIDENTE : THE CORRUPTION GAME - AMAZON

Writer/Director Armando Bo (screenwriter of Birdman) created this meta-tale of Joao Havelange the FIFA president who made the organization a world power as well as deeply corrupted it. It was originally in Brazilian Portuguese, Spanish, and English with many different accents from around the globe. Amazon and I decided to continue to use accents for any country other than Brazil to preserve the international conflicts in the story.

ON THE SPECTRUM - HBO MAX

Originally out of Israel, the series On the Spectrum captures the day-to-day trials and joys of Autistic adults. We cast the voices with actors on the spectrum and worked closely with Exceptional Minds a non-profit that trains Autistic adults in various aspects of animation. (Voice & Script International)

Para: we are king - HBOmax

A spin-off of the popular show 4 Blocks about four teenage girls in Berlin who struggle to get ahead in a society stacked against them. I got to dig into my Arabic skills and work with a bilingual cast to redub over the original Arabic.

HOW TO SURVIVE BEING SINGLE - SEASON 1-3- AMAZON

A Mexican comedy about a group of friends trying to find love and career satisfaction. We did an interesting fusion of Mexican slang and common Spanish words mixed in with English so it preserved some of the original cultural context and humor.

MONEY HEIST:FROM TOKYO TO BERLIN

I directed the making of documentary about the final season of the hit Netflix show Money Heist (La Casa de Papel). It was nice to return to this franchise after being an adaptor on the first 3 seasons.

SWEET & SOUR - NETFLIX

I directed an all-Korean American voice cast in this Korean romantic-comedy about the different stages of relationships and the twist that happen along the way. (Keywords Studios)

VALLEY OF TEARS - hbo mAX

Valley of Tears broke viewer records when it premiered in Israel during Yom Kippur in 2020. This ten-part series follows four different storylines in the Yom Kippur War or 1973 Arab-Israeli War including three Mizrakhi or ethnically Middle Eastern Jewish soldiers. We dubbed it into English and Arabic (when Arabic was spoken in the original), giving me the opportunity to brush off my Arabic. (Voice & Script International)

GIMS: ON THE RECORD - NETFLIX

Maitre Gims is the best-selling hip-hop artist and rapper in France. This documentary explored his Congolese roots, his spirituality, and how he discovered his voice. I was excited to work with some of my favorite artists on this project including Tobie Windham. (Voice & Script International)

A narrative film about a romance between a privileged heir and a lower-class girl that helps them both discover what they really want out of life.

WHO KILLED LITTLE GREGORY - NETFLIX

A documentary series about the death of a 4 year-old boy in rural France in the 1980’s that absorbed the country for years and remains unsolved to this day. (Voice & Script International)
