Dubbing

I become involved in dubbing in 2015 as an actor. I realized that my background in music and languages helped me match the rhythms and subtext of the original actor’s performances. Once I gained a deep understanding of the work, I began directing and adapting as well. As streaming companies have expanded their foreign content, the dubbing industry has grown and I have become fascianted by the technicalities and art of creating performances that enhance the viewers’ experience in English. Now I work for dubbing companies such as Voice & Script International, Poste Haste, and Keywords Studios that dub content from Netflix, HBOmax, Amazon, and other companies from around the world.

Citadel: Diana - Amazon

I got to direct the dub of this Italian series created by the Russo Brothers (Avengers: Endgame) which premiered at #1 in the US on Amazon Prime. I got to work with original actors in the Netherlands, Italy, and Germany and direct English, German, and French dialogue. Watch Here

Citadel: Honey Bunny - Amazon

For the next title in the Russo Brother's Citadel series, I directed all the voices recorded in the United States. As the Creative Director for the project, I also problem-solved any sync, timing, and continuity issues and recorded scratch tracks for the original actors to use while dubbing themselves in India. I worked with the adaptor and producers to create a process for the US and Indian recordings to come together into a cohesive whole. Watch Here

CULPA TUYA (YOUR FAULT) - AMAZON

The second film in the global-hit Romance/illegal racing saga, Culpa Tuya was a fun project to inherit from the amazing director Carrie Keranen. Similar to the “Through the Window” trilogy I director for Netflix, this is based on a series of popular romance novels. Watch Here

THE HEAD OF JOAQUIN MURRIETA - AMAZON

I got to work with multiple original cast members who dubbed themselves for the characters of Murrieta, Kelly, and Harry Love. I’ve been obsessed with the history of California right after the Mexican-American War for a long time so it was really exciting to get to work on a show set during this period. This show was in the top five internationally for weeks on Amazon and the dub was viewed more often than the original language. Watch Here

SEBASTIAN FITZEK’S THERAPY - AMAZON

This psychological thriller was tricky in terms of the nuanced layers of performance and the technical challenges of figuring out how to match the physical deterioration of the main character. I am really proud of what we accomplished on this limited series. Watch Here

SAM:A SAXON - HULU

Sam: A Saxon was based on the real-life story of Sam Meffire who was the first black police officer in East Germany just before and after the fall of the Berlin Wall. Malik Bauer who plays Sam came over from Germany to dub himself and it was a wonderful experience being able to preserve his performance. Watch Here

FAMILIA - NETFLIX

As the daughter of a tree farmer who was in the middle of selling his business, I really related to this story about an olive farmer in Northern Mexico bringing his family together to discuss selling the family land and business. The cast was a joy to work with as well! Watch Here

INTERPRETER OF SILENCE - HULU

The Interpreter of Silence tells the story of a young Polish interpreter in the Auschwitz Trials in 1960’s Germany. We cast two women in the lead role —one speaking Polish — and one speaking English because we needed to keep all the Polish sections in Polish for the sake of storytelling and the original Polish overlapped constantly with the German. We also hired many Polish-speaking actors to play characters who went in and out of speaking German and Polish. Watch Here

I got to indulge my soccer- geekdom again and direct the dub of this documentary about legendary Mexican soccer player Rafa Marquez. Watch Here

The second film in this Spanish romance series debuted at number one for Netflix non-English titles and was in the top five worldwide for over a week. Watch Here

ELITE - SEASON 5 - NETFLIX

After the legendary John DeMitta directed the dub for the first 4 seasons I got to step in to direct the 5th season which reached the Top 5 on Netflix. Watch Here

EL PRESIDENTE : THE CORRUPTION GAME - AMAZON

Writer/Director Armando Bo (screenwriter of Birdman) created this meta-tale of Joao Havelange the FIFA president who made the organization a world power as well as deeply corrupted it. It was originally in Brazilian Portuguese, Spanish, and English with many different accents from around the globe. Amazon and I decided to continue to use accents for any country other than Brazil to preserve the international conflicts in the story. Watch Here

ON THE SPECTRUM - HBO MAX

Originally out of Israel, the series On the Spectrum captures the day-to-day trials and joys of Autistic adults. We cast the voices with actors on the spectrum and worked closely with Exceptional Minds a non-profit that trains Autistic adults in various aspects of animation. Watch Here

Para: we are king- sEASON 1 - HBOmax

A spin-off of the popular show 4 Blocks about four teenage girls in Berlin who struggle to get ahead in a society stacked against them. I got to dig into my Arabic skills and work with a bilingual cast to redub over the original Arabic. Watch Here

Lords of Scam - Netflix

This wild French documentary about a charming scam artist who took advantage of loopholes in the EU’s carbon credit system to make millions was a fun one to direct. Watch Here

HOW TO SURVIVE BEING SINGLE - SEASON 1-3- AMAZON

A Mexican comedy about a group of friends trying to find love and career satisfaction. We did an interesting fusion of Mexican slang and common Spanish words mixed in with English so it preserved some of the original cultural context and humor. Watch Here

MONEY HEIST:FROM TOKYO TO BERLIN

I directed the making of documentary about the final season of the hit Netflix show Money Heist (La Casa de Papel). It was nice to return to this franchise after being an adaptor on the first 3 seasons. Watch Here

I directed an all-Korean American voice cast in this Korean romantic-comedy about the different stages of relationships and the twist that happen along the way. (Keywords Studios) Watch Here

VALLEY OF TEARS - hbo mAX

Valley of Tears broke viewer records when it premiered in Israel during Yom Kippur in 2020. This ten-part series follows four different storylines in the Yom Kippur War or 1973 Arab-Israeli War including three Mizrakhi or ethnically Middle Eastern Jewish soldiers. We dubbed it into English and Arabic (when Arabic was spoken in the original), giving me the opportunity to brush off my Arabic. (Voice & Script International) Watch Here

GIMS: ON THE RECORD - NETFLIX

Maitre Gims is the best-selling hip-hop artist and rapper in France. This documentary explored his Congolese roots, his spirituality, and how he discovered his voice. I was excited to work with some of my favorite artists on this project including Tobie Windham. (Voice & Script International) Watch Here

WHO KILLED LITTLE GREGORY - NETFLIX

A documentary series about the death of a 4 year-old boy in rural France in the 1980’s that absorbed the country for years and remains unsolved to this day. (Voice & Script International) Watch Here
